Unlike a wood stove, you have a metered feed rate (controlled by you) that provides steady, even heat. Some models have thermostat options. A 40-pound bag of pellets provides as much as 24 to 48 hours of heating for a typical two-bedroom home (up to 1500 square feet), and will last even longer if the stove provides only supplemental heat. By using premium grade pellets, your stove will burn hotter and cleaner, producing as little as one-half cup of ash per bag. (BTU output will vary, depending on the brand of fuel you use.)
