Wood Stoves

All of the stoves have optional boilers for heating domestic hot water. Some models have integral, built in boilers capable of heating several radiators and even full central heating for the home.

Most of the ComstockStoves have an environmentally friendly, cleanburning, airwash system. This ensures clean glass doors whatever fuel is burned in the fire and reduces emissions. Within the Comstock ranges there are both freestanding stoves and inset fires to cover most applications.

First off---ComstockStoves Wood Stoves are not cute & pretty---there's a whole lot of spit and polish missing. If you're looking for a glorious piece of gold trimmed furniture to accessorize your living room or parlor--you need to look elsewhere.

Our wood burning stoves are designed to keep you warm--and burn the least amount of wood while doing so.

Typically--there is too much heat that blows out the stack--wasted. Now--regarding wood itself. There is an extreme variation in the kind of wood that can be burned in a wood stove. Whatever wood you use--it should be dry & seasoned. If you want a short, quick, rather intense fire, then smaller pieces of softwood works best (such as soft pine or cottonwood). If you want a longer burning fire--then bigger pieces of good dry hardwood is best (such as red oak or hard maple).

The upper Heat Exchange Chamber in a ComstockStoves stove draws down more of the heat from the fire. There is a fair amount of creosote & soot residue that attaches and builds up on the tubing-exchange surfaces as the hot air & gases are cooled. This build up can be scraped off periodically--falling down into the firebox--to be reburned in the fire. A long handled wire brush or scraper will work to clean off the tubes. The build up in the exchange chamber reduces creosote and soot build up in the stove pipes and chimney. There is also less creosote & soot that escapes from the stove. The access door at the front of the Exchange Chamber allows for cleaning the Exchange Tubes. Also there is a significant amount of heat that radiates directly off the exterior surface of all our wood burners--thus if electirical power is lost you will still get some decent heat from all units.

Our wood burning stoves and wood furnaces do not have any brick liners or sand-gravel based firebox fillers. They are 100% STEEL!!
